Office Mobile Apps With Microsoft Access Now Support Windows 10 Timeline
From Windows Latest, Nov, 2018
Microsoft continues to roll out new features for its Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Access. MS Access now comes with themes and color variations as listed below. These new features, along with improved database functionality keep Microsoft Access at the forefront of relational database management systems software
Microsoft is updating the Office Mobile apps with support for Windows 10 Timeline. It means that the Office Mobile apps (Word, PowerPoint Mobile) activities would show up in the Windows 10 Timeline screen. Office Mobile version 16002.11029.20046.0 adds support for Timeline. It's a useful feature as you can now return to editing a specific document quite easily. It’s worth noting that Office Mobile apps are available for free and you can use it to view documents or presentations but you need Office 365 subscription to edit the files.
Microsoft company is rolling also rolling out a new update to the Office desktop app for Insiders and it advances the app to Build 11029.20045. The update is available for Office 365 subscribers on Windows signed in to the Office Insider program. Microsoft earlier added people suggestions as part of the Schedule Assistant which lets users to reserve a conference room along with switching between the rooms within the apps for Outlook mail.
The latest update comes with more improvements to the Outlook email with the company now allowing the Outlook users to save zooming options. The users will now be able to choose a default zoom setting to use for all their messages. Earlier the zooming settings would reset automatically when closing the app, his will now change in the latest Office update. "Instead of adjusting Zoom each time, you read a message, choose a default setting to use for all your messages," Microsoft explains.
There are improvements pushed out to Microsoft Access with the company introducing themes. Microsoft Access now comes with support for four different themes like colorful, dark, gray and white. Microsoft will be adding more improvements to the themes in the coming updates. The latest Office update doesn't come with any improvements or features for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. These Office apps already received a lot of improvements in the previous update. For example, support for Ink to Text tool feature was added to Microsoft PowerPoint last month and it allows users to change handwritten ink to shapes or text.
If you've ever used Microsoft Access as a programming tool, you know that looking at the same layout format can become boring. Microsoft Access is one of the last programs in the Microsoft Office suite to get this very nice facelift. Microsoft Access Programming Code Creates A Fresno Map
Here's some interesting Microsoft Access VBA code example for programming a Google map.
============== ==STEP ONE== ==============
Create a new MS Access form called frmGoogleMap. Size the form to your liking...
On the blank form, go to the "Insert" menu and select "ActiveX Control..."
When the selection screen appears, choose "Microsoft Web Browser".
Once the control object has been placed on your form, resize the control object WITHOUT SAVING THE FORM. The reason for this? Once you save the form, if you want to resize after saving you have to delete the control object and re-insert a new Microsoft Web Browser ActiveX control object each time you want to resize it. In this example, I have named the control object WebBrowser0.
I recommend inserting a command button named cmdClose for testing purposes.
Once you have the Design View finished,...
a.) Set the TimerInterval for the form to 1000 b.) Go to the View menu option. c.) Click on Code d.) In the Code Module for the form, insert the following code.
Me.TimerInterval=1000 MyAssigned=False Set objBrowser=Nothing DoCmd.Hourglass False DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmGoogleMap", acSaveNo
Private Sub Form_Timer()
'Declare variables. Dim objBrowser As Object
'Set variables. Set objBrowser=Me.WebBrowser0
If MyAssigned=False Then DoCmd.Hourglass True With Me.WebBrowser0 .Navigate MyGoogleMapURL Do Until .ReadyState <> 3 DoEvents Loop DoEvents Do Until .ReadyState=4 DoEvents Loop DoEvents MyAssigned=True End With DoCmd.Hourglass False End If
Obviously, you can parse the string value of the URL to any address of your choosing.
Programmer's Note(s) And/Or Warnings:
If you're connecting to your new Google Maps form through a Citrix connection, the opening of the Microsoft Web Browser control will crash your MS Access database. This is because Google Maps will turn your SpeedScreen setting on in Citrix, even if you have it set to Off, and the combined running of both creates a GPF error.
You CAN, however, use a standard Remote Desktop Connection(RDC) or a VNC connection with no resulting crashing of MS Access.
For additional business purposes, you can also have your MS Access application target different types of businesses nearby (Example : Schools) just by setting the URL string value to something like...
